Steele Scammell Architects, formerly Martin Steele Partnership, is an award winning architectural practice based in South East London.

Our architecture emerges out of a passion for context – historic, environmental, cultural and economic. We believe architecture has the power to improve lives and make communities happier and stronger. We design projects at all scales across the UK and Ireland. Whether working on community buildings, private homes, high end retail stores or historic buildings, we commit the same level of intimacy, research and consideration to all projects.

Our inspiration is to ‘devise artistic designs and work in every craft with ability and intelligence, knowledge and all craftsmanship’ (Ex 31:3).

Designing significant new buildings and spaces comes with responsibilities to the people who use them, resources required and how they impact the environment on local and global scales. These principles are embedded in how we think and the buildings we make.

Much of our work focuses on adaptive reuse of existing buildings that is both sustainable and beautiful, without compromising the architectural and experiential qualities of the spaces we create.
